How We Help

Members receive a bi monthly copy of our 'Reporter' newsletter. This contains up-to-date information on what is happening in child protection and foster and kinship care. It also contains relevant articles on issues related to foster and kinship care and hints on how to deal with certain issues.

All carers can access advice, support and advocacy. This can be via the QFKC Support Team, or through the QFKC Office on (07) 3256 6166. QFKC can contact appropriate people to seek help for you and, where necessary, this can include senior departmental members.

Where foster and kinship carers feel they have not been included in the decision-making processes regarding the care of the child or young person placed with them, QFKC can assist in negotiating with the Department to ensure that the processes associated with planning are up-to-date and accurate. QFKC assists foster and kinship carers to advocate on behalf of children and young people in placement with them.

QFKC applies for various project grants to assist foster and kinship carers and the children and young people in their care.
